Dr. Christian Larco, Psy.D.
(He/Him/His)
I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a longstanding commitment to serving those who serve others. I specialize in working with adults navigating trauma, post-traumatic stress, neurological and chronic pain conditions, and life transitions. Many of my clients are active duty military members, Veterans, and first responders, but I also work with anyone seeking therapy regardless of military background. Whether you are seeking support for post-traumatic recovery, managing persistent pain, or navigating the impact of high-pressure, performance-driven work environments, my goal is to offer evidence-based care with an understanding that real-world stakes - like career impact or clearance concerns - often require care that is both effective and discreet. I have Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) and am able to provide telehealth to clients in all 42 PSYPACT participating states (click here to see if your state participates).

Therapeutic Approach
I draw from a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), tailoring treatment to each client's goals. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which can be particularly effective for processing trauma and distressing experiences. My approach is collaborative and grounded in a genuine therapeutic relationship—I aim to be a steady, real presence in the room, offering both structure and flexibility.
Education and Experience
My path to psychology was shaped by my military service. I served as an enlisted Sonar Technician in the U.S. Navy before earning my doctorate in Clinical Psychology and commissioning as a Naval officer. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and have since held leadership and clinical roles across military and VA healthcare systems. These include acting as clinic chief at multiple embedded behavioral health clinics, developing a Pain Psychology program at Nellis Air Force Base, and currently serving on a national team building a virtual Accelerated PTSD Treatment program.
Personal Interests
Outside the office, I find joy and balance in the outdoors. I spend much of my free time hiking forest trails, exploring mountain biking routes, or simply being in nature with my family.
